Yes!!! STEAM education does benefit the student

STEAM education is an avenue and pathway to learning that make use of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Craft, Mathematics to guide student’s inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking.

Student’s Inquiry is an approach to learning whereby students find and use a variety of sources of information and ideas to increase their understanding of a problem, topic or issue of importance. It requires more than simply answering questions or getting a right answer.

Dialogue is one of the best vehicles for learning how to think, how to be reasonable, how to make moral decisions and how to understand another person’s point of view.

Critical thinking is a core academic skill that teaches students to question or reflect on their own knowledge and information presented to them.

It can be said that with STEAM education a student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking is improved. I will talk about the four main benefit of STEAM education on the student.

STEAM EDUCATION TEACHES THE STUDENTS HOW TO VALUE ART

Art is an integral part of products that involve engineering and the student will be able to learn this, using art in STEAM projects helps students understand how varied the arts are, art helps to increase the engagement with STEAM projects.

PROVIDES THE STUDENTS UNIQUE WAY TO SOLVE PROBLEM

The students are forced to use a variety of method to solve problems that arises during the course of the activities. They experience trial and error, and think outside the box. Any skills that has been learnt using STEAM can never be forgotten.

PREPARE FOR FUTURE WORKPLACE

With project-based learning (PBL), students develop the skills to work independently or collaboratively, to come up with an essential question that does not have an easily found or specific answer, and which engages students in sustained inquiry.

SELF-RELIANCE

The ability to use initiative to set agendas, and work within time frames
